there are three pears in the painting

- an ABATE pear ( the vestments are those of the ABBOT OF CLUNY )

- a KAISER pear  ( the clothes are those of KAISER FRANZ )

- the third pear is RED. it has a BIRTHMARK on its head and a HAMMER AND SICKLE on its front... which makes it a PERESTROIKA (pera, in Italian, is a pear)
